Terminology

Have you ever wondered about this? Why do real time strategy games call their different sides – especially when they’re asymmetrical – “races?” How does that make sense? In games like Starcraft, it’s completely nonsensical. Terrans are obviously  a completely different species than the Protoss (humans compared to… whatever). Or look at the granddaddy of RTS games, Dune II, where they are also not races, but rather different houses.

I’m sure this is because of Dungeons and Dragons. Have you noticed that you can say that about everything now? Call of Duty multiplayer? Because of Dungeons and Dragons. Rand Paul? Dungeons and Dragons. Etc.
